
The Air Force has put real procurement money behind loyal wingman drones
The U.S. Air Force is asking Congress for nearly $1 billion to begin buying its first Collaborative Combat Aircraft, signaling that semi-autonomous wingmen are moving from experimentation into the planned force structure
- The Air Force wants $996.5 million in FY27 procurement funding for Increment 1 CCA aircraft.
- The request also includes $150 million in advance procurement and about $1.37 billion in R&D.
