South Korea formally maps path to nuclear-powered submarines
Seoul has publicly adopted a strategic plan for nuclear-powered attack submarines, aiming to launch its first boat in the mid-2030s and commission it in the late 2030s.
- Seoul announced the Jang Bogo-N roadmap on May 26, 2026.
- The first boat is planned for launch in the mid-2030s and commissioning in the late 2030s.
