Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS appears to have formed in a much colder star system than our own

ALMA made the first measurement of deuterated water in an interstellar object.
The chemistry suggests 3I/ATLAS formed in a colder, less irradiated system than the early Solar System.
The observations were made within days of perihelion during a narrow viewing window.
