Tumor-linked microglia may help deadly childhood brain cancers spread
Researchers at Karolinska Institutet report that microglia can build a fibronectin-rich scaffold that appears to help diffuse midline glioma cells invade nearby brain tissue.
- Microglia exposed to DMG cells produced high levels of fibronectin.
- Blocking fibronectin reduced tumor-cell invasiveness in lab experiments.
