Nature Medicine Addendum Revisits GREM1-Driven Colonic Tumorigenesis
Key Takeaways
- Nature Medicine published an addendum on 9 October 2026 to a study titled "Aberrant epithelial GREM1 expression initiates colonic tumorigenesis from cells outside the stem cell niche" (DOI 10.1038/s41591-026-04736-5).
- An addendum supplements an existing paper with additional information or clarification; it is distinct from a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction.
- The original study's title asserts that GREM1-driven tumour initiation can occur in cells outside the colonic stem cell niche, challenging a stem-cell-centric model of colorectal cancer origin.
- Because the notice is an addendum rather than a retraction, the underlying conclusion remains on the record, but readers should consult the DOI for the specific contents.
