Daily Weather Extremes Point to Faster Glacier Loss
Key Takeaways
- Researchers adapted a global glacier model to run at daily resolution.
- The model covers more than 12,500 glaciers representing 94% of global glacier ice volume.
- Daily variability captures snow-to-ice surface changes that monthly averages can smooth over.
- The study projects greater glacier loss by century end than a monthly modelling approach.
