Apple Confirms Hardware Bug Behind iPhone 18 Pro Max SOS Mode on AT&T
Key Takeaways
- Apple has acknowledged a hardware issue affecting iPhone 18 Pro Max connectivity on AT&T, per an Engadget report.
- Affected owners report the handset dropping into SOS mode, where emergency calling may work but normal cellular service does not.
- Because the fault is hardware-based rather than software-based, standard troubleshooting such as network resets or eSIM reinstalls is unlikely to resolve it.
- Apple has outlined which owners qualify for a replacement device instead of a repair or software patch.
