Activated protein C improves blood stem cell transplant potential
Key Takeaways
- Activated protein C and thrombin act through the same PAR1 receptor but produced different outcomes in human blood stem cells.
- aPC-treated cells remained more quiescent and were less likely to differentiate prematurely.
- A one-hour aPC treatment improved transplantability in a mouse model, but clinical usefulness remains unproven.
