USC study explores renewable engineered immune cells for cancer
Key Takeaways
- USC researchers engineered granulocyte-monocyte progenitors, an immature immune-cell type.
- The cells expanded in the laboratory and generated new immune cells after establishing in mouse bone marrow.
- In mice, the approach slowed blood cancers and solid tumors; human clinical effectiveness remains unproven.
