Europe adds a wildfire view to its free satellite browser
Key Takeaways
- Copernicus Browser added a default wildfire visualization layer on August 4.
- The layer uses Sentinel-2 imagery to show active fires, burning vegetation, and burn scars more clearly.
- The feature is based on a JavaScript script by remote sensing expert Pierre Markuse.
- The update turns a once-manual expert workflow into a built-in public tool during a severe wildfire season.
