Developer Maps All 2,199 Miles of Route 66 Into One Scrollable App
Key Takeaways
- Developer Jake Boyles spent the summer mapping all 2,199 miles of Route 66 into a dedicated version of his Pit Stop app.
- The route runs from downtown Chicago near Lake Michigan to the Santa Monica Pier in California.
- The app shows elevation changes, gas stations, food, and lodging, with users able to select a retro car choice, including a 1950s turquoise model.
- Boyles says he mapped roughly 2,400 places to eat and 1,300 motels across 280 towns along the highway.
