Feather Star-Inspired Soft Robot Swims Freely With Only Two Actuators
Key Takeaways
- North Carolina State University researchers developed a soft underwater robot inspired by the feather star.
- The robot swims freely underwater using only two actuators.
- The design borrows the feather star's coordinated, flexible-arm swimming motion.
- Minimal actuation reduces sealing, power, cost and failure-point burdens.
