Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Announced for Switch 2
During Tuesday's Nintendo Direct, the company revealed the next entry in its long-running series of sports simulation games: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. The game is set to launch on October 22 for the Switch 2, with pre-orders opening today.
This follow-up to 2022's Nintendo Switch Sports brings a dozen activities that can be played solo or with friends and family using the Joy-Con 2 motion controls. The lineup includes series staples such as bowling, tennis, basketball, golf, and boxing, plus a warm-up activity: jump rope.
New and Unusual Activities
Beyond the classics, Switch Sports Resort introduces several leisure sports: power cruising, prop plane flying, and skateboarding (which supports mouse controls). However, the most unusual addition is thumb wrestling. Players hold the Joy-Con 2 vertically and tilt it side to side, pressing a shoulder button to trap their opponent's thumb for the win.
Nintendo's sports games have been a source of fun since the original Wii Sports in 2006, and this latest edition promises to continue that tradition with a mix of familiar and quirky activities.
Release and Pre-Order Details
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is coming exclusively to Switch 2 on October 22. Pre-orders are available starting today. The game leverages the new console's Joy-Con 2 motion controls for intuitive gameplay.
With 12 activities ranging from competitive sports to casual leisure, Switch Sports Resort aims to offer something for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned Wii Sports veteran or new to the series, this title is shaping up to be a must-have for Switch 2 owners.
