Mars Cloud Study Points to Rare Ice Formation Process
Key Takeaways
- The Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud can stretch up to 1,800 kilometers and recurs each Martian morning for months.
- Mars Express observations and atmospheric modeling were used in the study.
- Researchers needed homogeneous nucleation in their model to reproduce the cloud.
- The result suggests water vapor can form ice particles without dust nuclei in these conditions.
