Key Takeaways
- WIRED's Boone Ashworth fixed a disconnected water-in-fuel sensor on a John Deere 5130ML tractor at the company's Santa Clara office using its self-repair software.
- The tool, Operations Center Pro Service, is a subscription that pairs with nearly every electronic-enabled John Deere machine and surfaces manual pages matched to a machine's serial number.
- John Deere CTO Jahmy Hindman, a 30-year company veteran, called the system 'owner-friendly' and said that has always been the intent.
- WIRED frames farmer adoption as minimal, with the publication noting it has repeatedly covered John Deere's reluctance to let anyone but official technicians repair its products.
