Free Apps Can Do What a $59 Distraction Blocker Does
Key Takeaways
- A $59 Brick device is essentially an NFC chip, and blank NFC tags cost about a dollar.
- Free, open source apps can use those tags, or a printed QR code, to run the same physical-friction blocking sessions.
- Foqos, built by Canadian developer Ali Waseem, is a polished free iOS app that blocks you from disabling a running profile.
- Foqos supports NFC tags, QR codes, barcodes on household objects, and daily schedules as triggers, and keeps all data on-device.
