Why Tech Workers Are Hiding Their Jobs on Dating Apps
Key Takeaways
- A Wired report by Elana Klein finds that tech workers increasingly face romantic rejection tied to their employers.
- A 23-year-old Palantir engineer was told medical debt was not an excuse for his job; others called him the devil or asked how he lives with himself.
- His friends asked him not to mention Palantir on group nights out because it hurt everyone's chances of meeting someone.
- He now describes his work vaguely as AI, keeps his employer off Hinge, and fabricated a story about his parents' medical debt.
