F1 Weighs 3.0-Liter Turbo V8s for 2030 as Fans Revolt
Key Takeaways
- F1 is reportedly preparing a 3.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine formula for the 2030 season.
- The move follows driver backlash against the 2026 hybrid power units, which helped attract Audi, Cadillac, and Ford.
- F1 last used V8 engines from 2006 to 2013, but those were naturally aspirated and produced over 750 horsepower.
- The 2030 concept could exceed 1,000 horsepower and keep a 134-horsepower electric motor with a smaller battery.
